Dice Activities

Created by teachers in their classrooms over a period often years. The activities have been tested and have proven to engage children, develop their mathematical thinking and empower them to believe in their ability to do mathematics.

Dice activities - Building number sense and power (Ages 5-8) - Use with children from nursery to Year 3, the activities build number sense and generate a conceptual base for number facts.

Dice activities for subtraction (Ages 6-9) - Engage pupils in activities which develop fluency with the arithmetic operations of subtraction and the mathematical principles involved in thinking about subtraction in a multiple of ways. Eight sections provide subtraction practice in activities such as subtraction graphs and charts; table completion; rounds, patterns and differences activities; and subtraction bingo, hidden numbers, tic-tac-toe and four-grid tic-tact-toe games.

Dice activities - Building mathematical facts and developing fluency (Ages 8-12) - Use with pupils from Year 3 to Year 7, the activities focus on number and operations and address the mathematical skills of reasoning, problem-solving and probability.

Dice activities for mathematical thinking (Ages 10-13) - Engage pupils in developing fluency with the mathematical concepts of square numbers, square roots, prime numbers, factorials, summation and integers.
